I tend to get stuck in a rut when it comes to family fun. Can you relate? My husband regularly takes time out to have fun with our children, but sometimes, my mundane responsibilities bog me down so much that I forget to have fun!
When I first had children, I was bound and determined to be a fun mom! And I was. I was the mom playing pirates, catching grasshoppers, and swinging on the swing sets right alongside my sons. Once we started homeschooling, there were more responsibilities. And as we added subsequent children, we added even more responsibilities, and activities.
Before long, I found myself buried in laundry and dishes, cooking and cleaning, not to mention home schooling four children. With little time to stay caught up, and more often than not, drowning in tasks to complete, all while struggling with my health, fun went out the window!
Kids often treat moms as maids around the home because well, sometimes, that’s how we act. But there’s one thing I’ve learned. The work doesn’t ever go away, but the kids will.
So, it’s time to take back my life and enjoy my kids again! It’s time to commit to having fun as a family and creating opportunities to make memories. The work can wait long enough to take a break and have a little fun with our children.
How about you? Are you with me? Are you wishing you were more fun? What if you became intentional about having fun with your children? What if you made it a daily habit? Maybe it sounds easy to you! I found it harder for me than I thought it would be, but I did it! I have worked hard to become more intentional about taking some time out to have fun with my children and we have already made some great memories this summer!
Don’t know where to start? This will help you. And if you need some ideas for family fun, you’ve definitely come to the right place! We can do this together! I’m cheering you on!
