Hello! I’m so happy you have stopped by, and not just because I’m thrilled to have one person reading my blog, but because I hope you can find some real content that can truly help you in this stage of life! I am a stay-at-home, home-schooling mom of four children, with four side-hustles, and, often, too many volunteer gigs.
I am mom to four children: fifteen, thirteen, nine, and six. That includes two who are strong-willed: one with learning disabilities and giftedness; one adopted with special needs and cognitive delays. And there are two in between who bring their own gifts and challenges to the mix! I need encouragement too–and maybe just some adult conversation (please leave me some comments so I can at least feel like I have adults in my life!)
Due to my former role as foster mom; my Master of Science degree in education; and the fact that I am raising four children ages six to fifteen; SOMEONE in our small community thought I was qualified to teach parenting classes for our local Early Childhood Family Education program. Believe me! I learn more than I teach!
Parenting is hard and the pressure of being the “Do-it-all Mom” can really build up! I have so many questions daily about motherhood and parenting and I know I’m not alone! Why am I even here? Can I make a difference in this world by cleaning up the same messes, fighting the same battles, and teaching the same lessons every day? Will my children be decent human beings when they leave the house? Will my children be able to hang onto a pair of mittens for MORE THAN A DAY when they are grown? Does anyone even care that I’m here? Or is it only important when their favorite jeans aren’t clean? And on it goes… Can you relate?
Thus, my hope is to create a space here where we can hold discussions regarding (RE:) all things that affect moms–for example, tough parenting issues, tough marriage issues, and maybe even a lighter discussion about how to refresh your home on a budget sometimes! I want this to be a space where we can be real so that the content is relevant. Sure, you can waste time on Pinterest only feeding your discontent, but instead, why not spend a little time on something that actually matters?
So often, I see stay-at-home moms seeking approval of others by saying things like, “I’m not just a mom though.” Or focusing on their side gigs because stay-at-home moms, for some reason, don’t get the respect they deserve! Fellow moms, we are literally raising and thus, shaping the future! What could be more important than that?
Let’s all come away from this with a little more understanding, a little more encouragement, a little more hope, and the approval you seek! We can do this together!
I’m Wendy. If you’re looking for perfection…keep it moving. If you’re looking for honesty, stay awhile!
