1. How do I use this product? You can use it two ways: First, this is a product that can stand alone as a daily and weekly planner for your children. Fill it in for your youngest children, but children as young as five or six can fill some of it in for themselves. Then, they have their tasks all laid out for them at the beginning of the week! (Hint: If you have a child who struggles with executive functioning, this will be even more valuable for you!)
Then, if you want to go the extra mile, but as easily as possible, simply select some of your child’s work samples as you go through the year that will provide a snapshot of your child’s learning. Add them to the binder, along with filling in the Student Reflection Page and Teacher Reflection Page and boom! You’ve got your portfolio DONE!
2. Do I need a portfolio? Maybe. Some states require a learning portfolio be kept for all homeschooled students. Others do not. But you’ll want to keep certain things and you are required to keep some records either way. A learning portfolio is just a great way to keep it all together, year by year. And if you do these each year, you will love looking back on your child’s reflections and work!
3. Can I print multiple copies? Yes!I know that homeschooling costs add up QUICKLY! I don’t want to just offer another product that “Looks great, but isn’t in the budget.” I want to truly support you in your homeschooling! If you do not have a printer at home, (Helpful hint: A printer is a MUST if you are homeschooling!) you can get cheap printing at your public library, or you could use an office store. You can also use online services like vistaprint.com, but investing in a decent printer is probably a better investment!
